A
ROLE OF INDIAN CLASSICAL DANCE IN BUILDING GOOD NATION
______________________________________________________________________________
Dance is the form of oscillation or pulsation of our
body, soul and mind. It is the form of devotion through which a dancer can
reach to the supreme. It is the shed of knowledge under which various
performance arts routed and get nurtured. It is a form of discipline. A dancer
can only reach to the stage through patience, concentration and regular hard
work.
As, the human born and grow up with different aspects,
like that dance also in frame a human with different aspects of life. In Natyashastra,
Indian dance has been described, the great saga Bharata Muni also signified its
importance towards life. A human can express his/her feelings, emotions through
dance with the help of Angika, Bachika, Swattik and Aaharjya Abhinya. Our
classical dance is based on Mythology and puranas. So, when somebody practice it,
they come under the rich culture and heritage of our country .Where now-a-days
people are getting away from Veda and Puranas but due to Indian Classical dance
form some extent of knowledge is spreading among humans.
If someone wants to
learn Indian Classical Dance, they must have to learn all the holy book or
story of Mahabharata ,Ramayana, Geeta, Shivapurana etc. The Bhava, Rasa and Abhinaya
described in Natyasastra which is used in Indian Classical Dance. If a human
being learn it, it helps to develop himself to be a good person and human being
but the development of human emotions has not received the desired attention in
our country One could say that the
present deadlock in world affair is to a large extent due to the lop-sided
development of human personality.
The
Great lady business icon Nita Ambani
said, “Indian classical dance is sustained by a profound
philosophy. Form seeks to merge with the formless, motions seek to become a
part of the motionless, and the dancing individual seeks to become one with the
eternal dance of the cosmos”.
Michael Jackson said,
“Consciousness expresses itself through creation. This
world we live in is the dance of the creator. Dancers come and go in the
twinkling of an eye but the dance lives on. On many an occasion when I am
dancing, I have felt touched by something sacred. In those moments, I felt my
spirit soar and become one with everything that exists”.
Today, when moral values decline and violence increase, it is the duty of the dancer to create an atmosphere of peace through the dance and deep spiritual dedication that accompanies any performer of classical dance. A Great Chinese proverb says: “IF YOU HAVE TWO LOAVES, SALE ONE AND BUY A LILY”. The implication is obvious. Don’t concentrate your attention on only food and drink, but give an equal attention to the development of your aesthetic nature. There are many dance forms in the world which have its own several modes of thought and activity and method to express itself. In one sentence it can summarised up as “A BRANCH OF A BIG TREE”. Western, Southern, Northern and Eastern nations, dance cultures have several essential points which have their own symbolic difference.

Now a day where all over the world everyone is trying
to adopt Indian culture, this thing has been started by the adaptation of
classical dance of India many year ago.
This is the only
language which is been understand by every age, cast, sex and nation.
Therefore, Martha Graham said, “Dance is the hidden language of the soul.”

There are some specific elements about the Indian
Classical dance which individualises from other dances of the world. If our
youth or children are to be schooled to avenue for the interpretation of our
national consciousness the training of dance, we impart to them must be truly
national as well as Indian in spirit which results to give birth to a good
human being. At last, but not least I would like to conclude by saying that:
There is a direct proportional between dance, culture and student which helps
to build a good nation.
The eight recognised Indian Classical Dance forms; Bharathanatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Mohininatyam, Odissi and Satthriya. A true heritage of India's diverse Culture!
